Welcome to QUADRE's HomePage

(Mountain View, CA - Spring 2009) The weather is getting nicer as we head into Summer. That means our education program, TOOT YOUR OWN HORN, is winding up another incredible year. Last season we made over 50 school visits collaborating and mentoring young music students. Events where we showcased all this local talent included our fourth annual Horns for the Holidays on December 16 and our first choir collaboration on February 11. Both concerts were at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts.

Despite what you may have heard, CDs aren't going out of style yet. We released our holiday album titled (aptly) 'Horns for the Holidays' in December. It features the drumming of Jim Kassis and the incredible horn stylings of James Thatcher. In 2009, we are releasing our collaboration album titled 'Our Time.' On this disc, we work with soprano, Elizabeth Weigle and Grammy-winning flutist, Molly Barth as well as Jim Kassis on percussion. The works are new, compelling and a joy to hear. We are looking forward to taking this music out on the road to a concert hall near you.

Not to mention that I am continually impressed with the level of musicianship and compassion my colleagues have playing for a packed concert hall on tour. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it is so much fun collaborating with people across the country. My hat is off to all the fabulous artists, presenters and organizations we have worked with lately. And I'm looking forward to the opportunities in the future.

If you are looking for music, check out our second CD, 'Citrus,' which focuses on new music. You can order it by clicking here. The SF Chapter of the American Composers Forum provided support as we head just north of San Francisco to record in St. Stephens Church in Belvedere. We had a fantastic time playing works by QUADRE members Nathan Pawelek and myself in addition to works we commissioned from David Garner, Mark Adam Watkins, and Christopher Wiggins.

And if you haven't checked it out yet, order our first CD called "The Voice of Four Horns." We had a blast recording "Tiger Rag" and "Send in the Clowns" along with some more traditional repertoire. Much of the work done to prepare for that recording happened in conjunction with the nine months we spent touring in Alabama.
